Morocco Sees 14% Increase Arrivals in H1 2024

Morocco has experienced a significant surge in tourism, with 7.44 million tourists arriving at border posts in the first half of 2024, representing a 14% increase compared to the same period in 2023, according to the Tourism Observatory.

This growth spans across all key source markets. The United Kingdom led with a 34% increase, followed by Germany at 28%, Italy at 21%, France at 17%, and Spain at 6%, as reported by the Observatory in its June statistics.

Key Airports Driving Tourist Influx

Morocco’s main airports have been pivotal in this growth. Agadir Al Massira, Marrakech Menara, Tangier Ibn Battouta, Fes Saiss, and Mohammed V airports collectively handled 32%, 26%, 14%, 6%, and 5% of the total tourist arrivals, respectively.

10% Increase in Tourist Arrivals

n June 2024 alone, tourist arrivals at border posts reached around 1.5 million, marking a 10% increase compared to June 2023. The United Kingdom showed a remarkable 48% increase, with France at 17% and Spain at 1% contributing to this upward trend.

Major Airports Lead June’s Visitor Increase

The airports of Agadir Al Massira, Marrakech Menara, Tangier Ibn Battouta, Fes Saiss, and Mohammed V were crucial, welcoming 37%, 31%, 18%, 8%, and 1% of the overall tourist arrivals in June. This highlights their significant role in boosting tourism and making Morocco a top destination for travelers.
