Morocco’s Aerospace Industry: Exports Expected to Reach $4 Billion by 2030

Morocco’s aerospace sector is on track for substantial growth, with exports hitting $1.3 billion in the first half of 2024, making it the top export performer among the country’s main industries. According to Hamid El Andaloussi, president of the Midparc industrial cluster, Morocco’s aerospace exports are projected to double to $4 billion by the end of the decade.

Key Drivers and Industry Performance

The sector’s growth is fueled by increasing orders from major global manufacturers like Boeing and Airbus. The Moroccan aerospace ecosystem, which comprises 145 companies, exported $2.1 billion worth of goods last year. El Andaloussi expects exports to reach a record $2.4 billion by the end of 2024.

Future Outlook and Strategic Goals

Morocco’s aerospace industry is anticipated to grow at an average rate of 15% annually, creating 40,000 new jobs and doubling export values to $4 billion by 2030. The country is currently ranked 20th globally in aerospace manufacturing, with a 40% local content rate.

El Andaloussi noted the importance of ongoing investments, both from domestic defense industries and international markets. He emphasized the need to attract investments from new markets, diversify export destinations, and enhance local defense industry capabilities to maximize added value.

The country’s aerospace industry has developed over 25 years, establishing a robust network of companies capable of producing critical aircraft components and providing essential maintenance and upgrade services.
